Aloha, I'm Mark!
I got interested in photography while in High School. I wanted to take pictures of people surfing so I borrowed my dad's camera and he never got it back! I attended Lahaina Luna High School where I wrote articles and took pictures for the school paper and the yearbook. During my senior year I applied for and received a scholarship to Brooks Institute of Photography. My major at Brooks was Commercial Photography and my minor was Underwater Photography. Basically, I took classes in many areas of photography, including Portraiture, Industrial, Advertising, Photojournalism, B&W and color printing, and underwater photography. I graduated from Brooks in 1977 with a Bachelors Degree in Photographic Art and Science. Upon graduation I went to work for Nagamine Camera & Photo Studio in Lahina, Hawaii. I worked there for more than three years photographing families, children, weddings, high school seniors, and commercial photography assignments. Shortly after getting married, my wife and I moved back to California where I worked for McCurry's Camera and Clymer's Studio before going to work for Sirlin Photographers in 1983. While working at Sirlins, I photographed many of Sacramento's politicians, including mayors, city council members, senators, assembly members, governors, and even President Clinton while he was in office. Over the years I had the pleasure of photographing many business people, children, high school seniors, families and their pets. Meeting new and interesting people and the variety of the types of photography that I do are what keep me motivated to produce the quality work that I was known for at Sirlin's, and now I'm excited to become a part of the team at Eleakis & Elder Photography. I look forward to reconnecting with many of my previous clients, friends, and families, and also anticipate meeting and making connections with new clients and people. The staff at Eleakis & Elder Photography cares about quality and customer service, and that's why the studio has been in business for more than 30 years.
