How do I know what size album I will get?
It will depend on your budget, your creative style, and
what you feel is appropriate for you. Most of our bride
and groom's get an album in the range of 45 to 75 pages
with the average being 50 pages.
How many photos will end up in my album?
We find that the minimum number of photos that end up
in any album by any photographer that tells the whole
story is about 70 photographs in a mixture of sizes (if
you are looking at other photographers, keep this in mind
when you review their packages). Although we can't predict
what you will decide after you see your photographs, most
people get between 70 & 100 photographs in their album.
How long does it take after the wedding?
Images are normally available within a couple of days
for viewing in our studio. Two months is our normal turn
around to complete your album after the album design is
completed.
What happens to the digital files?
They are available to purchase per our price list. We
will store them for you for three years.
What does it mean to have my album designed?
We are referring to the process of selecting which photos
will be used, what size they will be, and where in the
album they will be displayed.
How is my album designed?
Normally, you will design your album in our studio with
the help of Roger (if you have no interest in the design
process Roger will do it for you). Roger's job is to show
you the different ways that the photos can be arranged,
your job is to say what you like. You will find that you
will have definite preferences for different arrangements
depending on your personality (this is why we like you
be involved in the design process). When your album is
completed it will be a reflection of your personalities
- that makes it almost magical!
How much time does the album design session take?
2 to 8 hours, usually around 4 or 5 hours. It will depend
on the size of your wedding and how decisive you are.
We know that different people have different decision
making styles, we are happy to help you whether you are
quick or are more comfortable with a longer design session,
we will also gladly break the design session into multiple
appointments. We want to be sure that you will be very
happy with your album and that it will be the size that
is appropriate for you.
What about a Gift Registry, can guests help with
our album?
Absolutely, include us on your registry list, we will
send your guest a gift certificate for whatever amount
they would like to help out with.
How far ahead should we reserve a photographer?
If you agree with us that the selection of a photographer
is one of your most important decisions, you should shop
for a photographer as you shop for a location - so that
you can be sure that your favorite location and photographer
are both available on your wedding day. If you already
have an unchangeable date then look around and decide
in a timely manner. If you wait your choices of
photographers may change and you may have to start the
interview process over again.
Is an engagement session included?
Yes, two portrait sessions are included with our wedding
coverage, they can be used for an engagement session,
bridal session, or any of our regular portrait sessions.
Often we photograph the new family with one of these sessions
after the wedding. We can go to San Francisco for your
engagement session at no additional charge, but it does
need to be on a weekday when we do our lab run (we use
a color lab in San Francisco for some of our printing).
Do you bring an assistant?
Yes, in fact sometimes we bring two assistants. We feel
that for the best quality, wedding photography is a two
person job. Our assistants do a lot more than carry equipment.
They have experience in helping to make sure that
your wedding day runs smoothly and helping the photographer
with the photography.
Do you have a payment plan?
Before your wedding the deposits are as required in our
price list. After your wedding the remainder of the album
cost may be spread out over of as many months as we agree
upon. We will charge your credit card monthly for the
agreed amount and pace the production of your album so
that it is ready when the album is paid in full.
What happens if you are running late?
Our guiding philosophy - it is your day, it is very important
to us that you get the photos that you want AND that you
enjoy your wedding day. We will sit down with you before
your wedding to do a planning session. We write out notes
on our computer and print out copies for you. If the
day's schedule or plan needs to change we will refer to the
notes with you so that we can get the your most important
photos. Even when we are working VERY quickly we always
work at keeping the photography relaxed and lots of fun.
What happens if equipment breaks or we make a
mistake?
Yes, it can and although rarely, it has happened. We check
our equipment often - even during the wedding. If we
do discover a problem we are not shy about letting you know
right away, usually photos can be quickly re-taken where
appropriate .
Is it OK for guests to take photos?
Yes, although it's not fun to think about it, if our lab
or studio has a fire we want you to have photographs from
your wedding day. We know that photography is important
to you - we are happy to do anything that can help guarantee
having photographs from your day.
What if the photographer is sick?
So far - knock on wood - we have been able to attend every
wedding we have reserved (although we have done a few
weddings where we had to bring extra assistants and excuse
ourselves for a few minutes) … In the case of an
emergency where we could not physically do the photography,
we have photographer friends that we have reciprocal agreements
with - we will do our best to find one who is available.
What about black and white?
Black & white and sepia are available at no extra
charge from the same digital images that are taken that
are in color.
How do we feel about engagement sessions?
We love them! It gives us a chance to get to know each
other. Also, when you get photos that you love which show
your relationship (something that couples often expect
only from the wedding photographs) it takes some of the
pressure off of the wedding day, and then you have even
more fun and it shows in the photographs.
